The Kelley School of Business Indianapolis greatly appreciates the financial and motivational support provided by each of our donors. In 2007, Kelley was able to award $83,900.00 in total to 50 recipients. Our donors recognize the importance of a strong business education for students in central Indiana. The Kelley School of Business and our student recipients owe a debt of gratitude to the local businesses, organizations, and individuals that support Kelley. Many of our students struggle to meet the financial commitment of higher education. Without these awards, many of our students would be unable to complete or progress as quickly through their college experience.

Klapper Family Foundation Scholars - $7,000.00 (4 awarded)
The Klapper Scholarship endowment was established in 1999 by David Klapper of the Klapper Family Foundation. Klapper Scholars are management students who focus on entrepreneurship, or marketing students who are interested in retailing. Students must have completed at least 90 undergraduate credit hours, must rank in the top 20% of their class, and must have incurred debt in pursuit of their degree. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated leadership in school or community activities.

Funded by generous gifts from First Indiana Bank, this scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student in finance.

J Dwight Peterson Key Award - $2,500.00
This award was established by John D. Peterson, Jr., to honor the memory of his father, J. Dwight Peterson, who co-founded the City Securities Corporation in 1924. During his own career, Mr. Peterson (Jr.) became President, Chairman, and CEO of City Securities. The J. Dwight Peterson Key Award, the most prestigious award conferred by the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis, was first given in 1988. The award is presented to the overall outstanding senior on the basis of superior scholarship, extra-curricular activities, leadership, and character.

Principal Financial Group Scholarship - $2,500.00
Funded by annual gifts from the Principal Financial Group Foundation, this scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has been directly admitted and enrolls full time. Qualified applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to students from underrepresented populations.

Sam Jones Diversity Scholarship - $2,500.00
Funded by donations in memory of community leader Sam Jones, this scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the Kelley School on the IUPUI campus, with preference given to an incoming freshman from a racial or ethnic minority, or a first-generation college student. The student must be an Indiana resident and a U.S. citizen.

Elliott and Estelle Nelson Family Scholarship - $2,000.00 (2 awarded)
This endowed scholarship fund was established by gifts from Elliott and Estelle Nelson. The scholarship is awarded to a full time undergraduate business major, whose GPA is at least 3.0, and who has demonstrated need. It is awarded to a student who is a resident of the State of Indiana.

This scholarship was established in 2001 and is funded by annual gifts. The KSBI Finance Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding junior or senior student who has a career interest in finance.

Key Bank Scholarship - $2,000.00 & $1,000
Endowed by Key Bank, Indianapolis, Indiana, this fund is for two scholarships: a one-time, non-renewable $1000 award recognizing outstanding educational achievement by a minority Kelley School of Business student, and the other a $2000 award for an incoming freshman student who has been directly admitted to the Kelley School, with preference being given to minority students. A minimum cumulative average GPA of 3.0 is required.

Funded by annual gifts from the Construction Financial Management Association, this scholarship is awarded to an accounting or finance student who has expressed interest in financial aspects of construction.

Funded by annual gifts from the Indiana Warehousemens Association, this award helps to promote Indiana as a premier locale for transportation/logistics services to bolster and support the regional economy. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student in Marketing/Distribution.

Ralph L Swingley Scholarships - $1,500.00 (2 awarded)
This endowed scholarship fund was first awarded in 1998. The scholarship was established to honor the memory of longtime civic leader Ralph Swingley, by generous gifts from his family and from the Indianapolis Water Company. Mr. Swingley spent sixty years with the company, first as an accounting clerk, then advancing in rank through the years to become President and CEO, from which position he retired in 1970. The awards recognize outstanding students at the Kelley School of Business whose major is accounting.

Dr. Roger E. Jerman Scholarship - $1,500.00
Named for a professor of the Kelley School of Business, now retired, this scholarship fund was endowed by friends of Professor Roger Jerman, widely recognized for his work in the field of transportation. The scholarship is awarded to a student studying marketing distribution management and pursuing certification in the American Society of Transportation and Logistics. Preference is given to a student who has experience in or is pursuing a career in the transportation field, with secondary preference given to a marketing student.

William F. Buchanan Award - $1,500.00 (2 awarded)
Established by Lawrence and Elizabeth Magner in memory of the lifetime contributions of Betty's father to railway transportation in southern Indiana, the Buchanan Prize is given to the outstanding senior level undergraduate student in the field of transportation. The recipient must be a citizen of the United States.

Crowe Chizek Scholarship - $1,000.00
Funded by annual gifts from the accounting firm of Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, this scholarship is given to a senior student majoring in accounting. The recipient should be an Indiana resident and a US citizen, with a desire to live and work in the Midwest. The recipient will be a student who exhibits leadership skills and must have a GPA of 3.3, both cumulatively and in the accounting major.

This award is given by Financial Executives Institute to the top junior in accounting or finance.

Ginny Marzke Memorial Scholarship - $1,000.00
This scholarship was established with many gifts from family and friends to honor the contributions of Ginny Marzke to the Kelley School of Business. Ginny served as an academic advisor to Kelley students for more than fifteen years until her passing in 2000. The scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates a serious commitment to completing a Kelley degree while faced with multiple responsibilities. Consideration is given for financial need. The particular purpose of this award is to assist students who are seldom rewarded by more traditional scholarships.

This scholarship was established by George D. Miller to honor the accomplishments and contributions of his brother, Gordon C. Miller, to professionalism in the transportation logistics industry. It is awarded to a marketing or marketing/distribution management student with proven academic excellence. Preference is given to a student interested in pursuing graduate work.

These scholarships, established by the firm of Katz Sapper & Miller, CPAs, to honor founding partner Irwin Katz, are awarded to outstanding accounting majors who will achieve junior status in the fall, who live in Indiana, and who have an interest in working for an accounting firm.

This scholarship was established in 1979 by friends and family of John Berry and is given to a student having a junior standing or higher who has a career interest in accounting or real estate.

This award fund is endowed by Dr. Victor E. Childers, Emeritus Professor of the Kelley School of Business. Awards are given to students who have been admitted to overseas study programs in which they are earning credits toward an IU degree.

Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors Affiliate Division Scholarship - $500.00
Established in 2005, the MIBOR Affiliate Division Scholarship was the brainchild of Elizabeth Helm '07, who was then a Kelley undergraduate student working in the field of real estate. The scholarship is funded by annual gifts from the Affiliate Division of MIBOR. The scholarship is given to a junior who demonstrates leadership in academic or extracurricular activities, employment, or community service.

The recipient must have a minimum of 30 hours of class work at IUPUI.

Established in memory of their mother by John L. Kittle, Sr. and James L. Kittle, Jr., this scholarship is given to a full time student majoring in marketing. Participation in extra-curricular activities is also given consideration.
