Overall Strategy

In order to maximize the attractiveness of Kelley Indianapolis as a destination of choice for Central Indiana minority students, and to promote our features and assets in the most desirable and rewarding manner, this 5-part strategy has been designed:

  1. Development of Jr. High & High School Pipeline
    • Work in conjunction with our Bloomington KSB colleagues, and other like-minded youth development organizations, to jointly support programs that nurture and attract high potential minority students.
  2. Maintenance of the Minorities In Business (MIB) Student Club:
    • To help with the goal of improving retention and graduation of minority students, the MIB Club will provide leadership and professional development opportunities. Another strategy goal is to improve the students' enjoyment and appreciation of Kelley Indianapolis' holistic approach to education, preparing them for their chosen profession.
  3. Participation in the Diversity Scholar's Research Program and Other Campus Academic Initiatives
    • The DSRP provides payment for a 4-year, highly competitive scholarship, including 100% of all tuition, fees and other costs for selected students. Students will be assigned to a faculty mentor and will perform research on relevant business areas of interest to the student. The student will also present his/her research orally on their findings each semester.
    • Also other programs such as Kelley's Sam Jones Diversity and the Key Bank scholarships, and the campus-wide Norman Brown Diversity and Leadership Program and the Bepko Scholars are all available for student consideration.
  4. Attraction of Transfer Students
    • We intend to make contact with interested, high-potential minority students throughout the state, working primarily through the state's community college network (CCI). Adequate marketing tools and strategy will be developed and implemented.
  5. Maintenance of a Minority Professional Database
      This database was created to:
    • provide minority business role models and mentors
    • expand the professional network of our students
    • provide a viable, convenient source of subject matter experts for our faculty.

It will be maintained based on the interests of faculty and students.
