Taking Advantage of Career Placement Office Offerings
Cummins, Inc.
Connecting qualified Kelley students and graduates with the companies who need them is a goal of Kelley’s Career Placement Office (CPO). For the first time in quite a few years, Cummins, Inc., the Columbus, Indiana-based Fortune 500 company took advantage of many of the CPO’s offerings in search of qualified candidates to fill the company’s finance positions.
In addition to attending the CPO’s Meet the Recruiter event in the fall, Cummins’ Finance team conducted on-campus interviews through the CPO, and the company sponsored Kelley’s Business Etiquette Luncheon. Through their renewed recruiting involvement with Kelley, Cummins gained first-hand perspective of the caliber of Kelley students and graduates.
“Kelley MBA students are able to apply much of the theory learned in the classroom to real-world cases,” says Wendy Luedike, corporate accounting manager for Cummins. “Additionally, their combined domestic and international experience allows them to adapt to our company’s ever-increasing global environment.”
Luedike says the Cummins’ team was also impressed with Kelley’s undergraduate candidates – many of whom relied on local companies to begin building their accounting experience.
“To our surprise, one student arrived to us with Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification – a skill we have embedded within our corporate culture as one of many keys to our future success,” Luedike adds. “We’ve been quite impressed by the variety of qualified students in our local market, and we are excited to be forging a new partnership with Kelley Indianapolis and hope to expand our efforts there in the coming years.”
